DhimTANA Group Dancing-2025 Guidelines :

The 24th TANA Convention team is delighted to announce that 2025 “Dhim TANA Group Dancing” preliminary (local) competitions will be held across several cities in North America from March through June.

The team will be collaborating with TV9 and other channels to promote and telecast all our competitions held throughout North America.

The local finalists will get an opportunity to compete in the National competition held in Detroit during the 24th TANA Convention on July 3rd, 4th, 5th 2025.

Below are the age groups for competition (As of July 3rd 2025)
  • Sub Juniors – Below 9 Years
  • Juniors – 10 to 14 years
  • Seniors – 15 to 21 years
  • Adults – 22 years and above

July 3rd is the cut off date to determine age of participant in their respective categories.

Winner and 1st Runner will enter the finals in Detroit with a Free 24th TANA convention ticket (free ticket is for the winner and 1st Runner only). If Winner and 1st Runner cannot make it to finals in Detroit for any reason, then 2nd winner can enter to finals.

Note: TANA convention ticket is only for the Winner and 1st runner (not for other family members/siblings).

The limitation of number of participants in each group is minimum of 2 and maximum of 10 participants for Classical, Folk and Film dance (Telugu Language only).

Few Key points :
  • Classical Dance category includes the traditional Telugu dance form such as Kuchipudi, Andhra Natyam based on original compositions
  • Filmy/Folk Dance category includes dance styles inspired by Tollywood, semi-Classical, Fusion or Folk dances
  • For entry fee details, please refer to your local city flier on TANA website
  • All participants must be Telugu speaking/ origin.
  • TANA membership is not required to participate in the competitions
  • Need to send a copy of age proof (for all contests)
  • Organizers decisions will be final in all aspects of selection
  • Dress appropriate to avoid last minute disqualifications.
  • Applicants must agree to abide by all the rules and must be flexible with changing schedules which are beyond control
  • The organizers are not responsible for any delays or non-receipt of applications on any account and for any reason whatsoever
  • The final round expenses (travel and stay) will have to be borne by the contestant only
  • The applicant will have to participate in a disciplined and diligent manner throughout the competition.
  • The organizers are not responsible for any loss or physical injury that occurs to the contestant because of their participation in the event. The applicants will participate at their own risk and can have no claim against TANA/Dhim TANA in any regard
  • Incorrect information will result in disqualifications, whether discovered prior to, during or after participation
  • The decision of the judges is final in all cases
  • Only the contestant will be allowed near the main stage area
  • The schedule of events and qualification rounds are subject to change at the discretion of the organizers
  • The organizers are not responsible for non-completion/non- occurrence of the event
  • Finals are scheduled during the TANA conference - July 3rd, 4th, 5th 2025 in Detroit, MI
  • First 2 winning contestants will get chance to compete for nationals during TANA conference
Frequently Asked Questions for Group Dancing:

Please submit the entry in the category based on the highest age of the participants in the group. Please note older age kids cannot participate in the younger age groups.

Participants can participate in different age groups, junior participants may perform in senior groups. However senior participants cannot perform in junior groups.

For example: Sub- Junior participants may perform in a junior group. However junior participants cannot perform in sub-junior groups, Junior participants may perform in senior groups. However senior participants cannot perform in junior groups.

July 3rd is the date to determine the age of participants for their respective group.

Final determination of the age group will be made by organizers in case of any confusion. (Please bring in proof of age for determination)

2 Can a participant perform in multiple categories?

Yes, a participant may perform in multiple categories. Separate registration is needed for each category. A participant may perform only once in a specific category.

3 Can a participant participate in different age groups?

Yes, participants can participate in different age groups, junior participants may perform in senior groups. However senior participants cannot perform in junior groups.

4 Time limit for performances

Strict time limit will be enforced. Each folk/filmy category will have maximum 5 mins to perform and Classical will have maximum 7 mins to perform.

5 Is there an entry fee for the competition?

Entry fees for the competitions are based on the category. Please refer to your local flier on “DhimTANA” page on TANA website for details

6 Is TANA membership required to participate in the competition?

No, TANA membership is not required to participate in the competitions

7 Are virtual auditions allowed?

No, all performances will be judged live during the competitions

8 Can non Telugu participants participate ?

To encourage Telugu culture, we would like to have a minimum of 50% of the participants from Telugu speaking/origin.

9 Do participants (Classical/Filmy Folk) need to dress up for these competitions?

There is special scoring for stage costume, props, appearance and presentation
